Q. What is the Ordnance Survey Grid Reference?

A. Ordnance Survey is Great Britain's national mapping agency and they use their own grid referencing system. They sell detailed paper maps ideal for walking.

Q. What is the USNG Grid Reference?

A. New to GPS2SO V2.0 - The United States National Grid (USNG) is a system of geographic grid references commonly used in United States but is a grid that covers the globe. It resembles the Military Grid Reference System (MGRS).

Q. How do I change to the USNG Grid Reference?

A. Just go to Details View and click on the OS Grid Reference value (the blue box) to toggle between Ordnance Survey and USNG.

Q. Is SMS Text feature working - I get a blank message?

A. Yes, your location data has been saved to the clipboard, all you need to do is double tap on the flashing curser and select Paste (you may also need to press delete once to show the message). Tip - Copy and paste works in most apps that you can enter text eg a Twitter client!

Q. Can I change the accuracy information from Meters to Feet/Yards?

A. Yes. In Details View just tap on the accuracy/altitude values to toggle between Meters and Feet/Yards.

Q. Can I change the Longitude & Latitude to degrees/minutes/seconds?

A. Yes. In Details View just tap on the Longitude or Latitude values to toggle between decimal and degrees/minutes/seconds.

Q. Why should I buy GPS2OS?

A. If you love walking or biking in the British countryside then you probably use Ordnance Survey maps, but as with any paper map it can be difficult to know exactly where you are. GPS2OS can use the iPhone 3G's GPS to pin point your location and convert the Longitude and Latitude to the Ordnance Survey Grid Ref - eg SK 39251 90913. You can then use this to find that spot on your map. To help you even more our unique Grid view quickly shows you where you are on the grid. All this works even without a phone/wifi signal.

Q. How long does it take to get an accurate reading on my GPS iPhone?

A. Our tests show it displays a useable reading within 10-30 seconds outdoors.

Q. How much does GPS2OS cost?

A. Only 59p.

Q. How do I get GPS2OS?

A. Just search for GPS2OS in the App Store or click here:

Q. Will GPS2OS work on my 1st generation iPhone or iPod Touch?

A. Not really, although first generation iPhone's and iPod Touch will attempt to triangulate your position using cell towers and Wifi, it is possible that your location could be more than +/- 3km.

Q. What area does the Ordnance Survey cover?

A. England, Scotland and Wales.

Q. What area does USNG cover?

A. Worldwide.

Q. What else can I use GPS2OS for?

A. You may want to GeoTag a digital picture from a camera that doesn't support GPS. Just take the picture and email yourself the location information to use at a later date like in iPhoto 08. GPS2OS includes Longitude and Latitude info in the email and also a Google Maps link.

Q. Can I scroll and zoom the Google Map?

A. No, this is disabled.

Q. How can I contact you?

A. By email: support@codeartisans.co.uk.
